The closing workshop for the project "Ultrasonic Tissue Characterization through Joint Estimation of Backscatter and Attenuation Coefficients" was held at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP). Led by Dr. Roberto Lavarello, alongside Edmundo Miranda, José Timaná, and Sebastián Merino, the event was part of the Prociencia 150-2020 initiative.
The workshop highlighted the project's main goal: developing tools for estimating backscatter and attenuation coefficients for clinical applications like fatty liver staging. Dr. Lavarello presented key achievements, including 07 international conference presentations, 06 papers indexed in Scopus, 02 Q1 journal papers, and 03 completed theses.
Following the introduction, Edmundo Miranda discussed advancements in Joint Reconstruction for Ultrasonic Imaging, while José Timaná shared findings from preclinical studies on hepatic steatosis. Finally, Sebastián Merino presented results from the in vivo pilot study, demonstrating the clinical potential of the tools developed.
